1 Lombard Street is the brainchild of ex-banker and successful restaurateur, Soren Jessen. Situated opposite the Bank of England in a magnificent Grade II listed former banking hall, this large and buzzing venue opened in 1998 and is now one of the City’s favourite haunts.
The man in charge of the kitchen is the brilliant chef, Herbert Berger, who can now add 1 Lombard Street's Michelin star to the previous two he has already achieved during his illustrious career. Tables at the restaurant, situated behind the brasserie, are booked weeks in advance. For a less formal dining experience, the brasserie itself offers a full à la carte menu and seasonal specialities along with an extensive and international wine list. Aside from lunch and dinner, guests can also enjoy breakfast in the wonderful natural light from the dome. The bar meanwhile offers a comprehensive selection of cocktails and champagne together with authentic Tapas and Oriental bites.
